Why do we choose to live in the dark? Why are we so afraid to admit that we are capable of making a mark? Maybe it’s because we feel the light is too good for you and me Maybe we think the light is too bright and too green. Maybe we're afraid that it will show it's blinding sheen. So we choose the dark, the muddy, and cloaked We live alone in shadow, in the fog we are choked Here is where our voices are taken away Here is where they tell us we don’t deserve the day And we believe them, Why? Well because it’s that or die Right? At least that’s what they said That it’s not safe under our bed That no one cares to hear what’s in our head. It's not safe in the light of the world my dear, No, It’s not safe anywhere else but here It burns they say It’s loud and obnoxious like a church steeple And all I can think is. Yeah, Enlightenment usually has that effect, On such close minded people.
