Ode To My Hair

I’m sorry I’ve lost you I’m sorry you’re gone, If my hair is my glory, is my glory now gone? What more will i sacrifice, what more will i give Am i even taking the right path, is this the life i want to live? Do you remember the gold?

Do you remember the way you used to shine? When we stayed out in the sun When you captured the light? Do you remember the way you trapped the rays, You became that of gold As if Rumplestiltskin had spun you. The smell of lemon brightened your eyes You became that of yourself when we flowed in the wind Wild, bright, free

What have i given, what have i lost If my hair is my glory, am i truly aware of the cost? I’ve given my time, my health, my rest Yes, But I’ve given my glory Which is a higher price than the rest

Yes, i remember those days, filled with sun and wind But i’m looking now, and see this might be a win Yes it is shorter, but it’s not lost My hair is my glory, but I've gained with no cost My days are filled with sun though the glory is brown My hair does not define me It lays on the ground And with this season of discovery I almost don’t care Seasons of life, Seasons of hair
