A Day To Be Wed

The house was dusty, And dirt filmed my eyes As the sun would warm my face. The plants were removed first To be sprayed and washed For one this may be work, For me, A miracle sent once by the world. To me it meant only one thing, Wedding

Cherries and apples blossomed into flowers of unfinished fruits. The branches hung lazy and low, Weighed down by the beauty they grow. No better day to be wed. Sunday shoes and easter dresses worked quickly Moving tamed earth, And rearranging the wild dirt. Distributing the sky in a more graceful manner As if it were to be painted just for that day. Dust filled the air And was lifted by the skies. A perfect day to be wed

Just then the priest arrived, Cloaked in black fur, and a pink tongue, The punching scent of meat on her breath. She could barely stay sitting in one place. Next the ring barer, taller than I, and older too. She walked in a blue sheer dress One that frequented many family pictures, And carried the rings on scentless flowers. Yet the air was still filled with many roses. What a day to be wed

The earth and sky, My closest friends, had come to watch. The birds and beetles took their usual spots, As the butterflies and rainbows sat upon the rocks. My good friend the grass had crowded the venue to the edges Naturally, he was always everywhere Even the sun and moon got along for the day Just a perfect day for a wedding

Everyone gave me their attention This was my cue As a walked through the forest i had created The sun peeked its way through The leaves danced shadows on my face And the trees bowed in the wind Sending flowers into the air to dance around me Me, wearing the finest of my dresses When i made it to the end of my parade There he was My groom My prince He looked as he always has Handsome, blue eyed, a knight in shining armor He wore his uniform A pan A big shirt The stick that to us, was a sword

With a bark and i do’s Filled with whispers and giggles We were wed When we bound the vow, the sky cried And it rained flowers The lazy branches had given us a gift And the air turned to blossoms It was as if the earth came to meet the sky All of my friends had rushed to meet us as a pair The air was sweet You could taste it What a day to be wed

The earth and sky danced with me And then the forest was taken away The wind had its fill for the day And the sun had to go away It was the moon's turn

The day had come to an end I had nothing left I had no friends When the earth and sky returned to their places All i had to see was the empty back yard Filled with plastic plants And a dead rose bush It did not discourage me It left me with hope For the next time the home was filled with dust And the sun catches the dirt There will be another wedding When the sky and earth will meet again And there will be another day to be wed
